The expansion at Giant’s Park required large clear spans and high internal volumes, placing unusual emphasis on acoustic control, thermal efficiency and durability.
Thornton coordinated built-up roofing, insulated wall panels, flat-roof systems, zinc cladding, drainage, fall arrest and bespoke in-house flashings as one continuous envelope.
Delays to the steel frame on reclaimed ground forced a complete resequencing. Installation followed the frame through available zones, with both studios progressed in parallel.
Panels up to 17 metres long were installed using boom lifts and crane-assisted vacuum lifting. An off-site compound and two-trailer shunting rotation controlled material flow as access tightened.
The revised programme was met without compromising inspection standards. The completed buildings achieved the acoustic, thermal and weathering performance required for film production.
