The Main Street building was reworked as a high-end Hilton destination. Thornton’s contractor-designed package had to establish a distinctive identity while performing in an exposed marine environment.
Equitone Natura shingles were fixed to an aluminium subframe over Rockwool insulation, with drained cavities, Siderise barriers and a Strata-supplied Borner membrane roof.
The cranked upper storey, projected window pods and transitions around retained openings demanded extensive surveying, coordinated modelling and bespoke fabricated trims.
Work was planned around a fixed completion ahead of the 2025 Royal Portrush Open Championship, with coastal exposure making temporary weathering and sequencing critical.
The finished envelope gives the hotel a precise identity while providing durable fire, thermal and weather protection suited to its seafront location.
